This last month has been really rewarding. Something shifted, or perhaps it was me that shifted, became more present and more attuned. Either way, March has been a standout month for community, reflection, and clarity. And it’s left me feeling deeply anchored into the ethos and values that shape how I work at Lemonberry.

I’ve been actively present in several communities that matter to me: WBII's 20th anniversary celebrations, my film club (born out of the Movies that Matter festival back in 2023), and my two book clubs. Somewhere in between all of this, I had a realisation. These groups, and the women who are part of them, are actually really central to how and why I work the way I do.

WBII celebrated its 20th anniversary. That’s twenty years of women entrepreneurs supporting, mentoring, and uplifting one another. It reminded me that the most important relationships are the ones that we build slowly, and together, with trust and collaboration.

In my film club, watching films with intention and sitting with complexity, discussing whose story is being told and how - really trains you to see the world through other people’s eyes. I realised, that practice makes me a better designer. A brand is always someone’s story, a story that I need to be able to see and step into with empathy and curiosity.

My book clubs help keep ideas alive in conversation. Sharing perspectives on language, narrative and images is at the heart of meaningful brand communication.

This last month really reinforced the fact that the way I engage in community is really the same way I work. They are reflections of each other. I know that people thrive when they feel seen and listened to, when their ideas are taken seriously, and there’s space to explore and learn together. All of this is at the heart of the human-centered approach at Lemonberry.

So much of everything I do is shaped by the women around me, and the values we pass between each other. I felt it particularly strongly attending the Woman’s Day March this year in Amsterdam. That sense of mutual respect and understanding, of a shared space where everyone’s voice is heard.

That’s really the thread running through all of these communities. I think that female energy is also what makes working with Lemonberry feel different to my clients, regardless of whether they are men or women. It’s an energy rooted in community, listening, and collaborating - my hope is that you experience that from the first conversation.
